Today i'll tell you some Christmas customs that we have in our family.
On December 24th, in the morning, the kids go to grandparents, aunts and uncles and sing the Christmas carols.
On Christmas day, we all go to the church at 6 am.
We go to a monastery (Panagia Faneromeni).
The Christmas liturgy there, is something else.
Although there is a crowd waiting to receive holy communion, you don't hear a thing.
There is peace and quiet everywhere.
The only thing you can hear is the voice of the nun singing the hymns.
At 8 am the church finishes and we go to my mother's in law house for the traditional breakfast.
We gather there, my parents in law, my family and my husband's brothers with their families.
This year we were 13 persons.
This breakfast is a tradition from my mother's in law father.
After 40 days without meat (fasting), you can imagine what happening on this table.
The forks catch fire.
At 2 pm we gather for lunch.
A lot of food and wine, again.
This year my brother in law dressed up like Santa and gave gifts to the kids.
In the evening we go to the persons who celebrate their names (Christos,Christina).
These days are for friends, relatives, food and fire place.
