THE BRENDA'S PHOTO CHALLENGE: ANTS

Hello!
My name is Anty!

Let me show you round!
This is my home!

With my family worked too hard all summer,

so now we'll rest and enjoy the winter.

Here is me with my friends but we are too little for you to see us.

When we look up to the sky,

we see Antigoni's and Marina's homes.

They and their families are nice people and always give us food.
They are good neighbours.

That's the theme that

chose this time for Brenda's Photo Challenge.

ABC WEDNESDAY: S for St.AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA

Five years ago, during our residence to Florida, we spent a weekend to St.Augustine.
St.Augustine is the first city that the Spanish built up when they came to Florida.

With the conch tour train we saw all the attractions of that beautiful city.
The Fountain of youth

The Ponce De Leon's statue
(Ponce De Leon was the founder of St.Augustine)

The oldest house

The oldest wooden school

The old history museum
(the history from Indians to Spanish)

The government's museum

St.George street

and many many more.
I wish i could show you all of my pictures.
St.Augustine is a fantastic place.
It is very different from the other cities of America.
It's like Europe.
We enjoyed every minute of our residence.

MY WORLD TUESDAY: MY MUM IS THE BEST

On Sunday we had lunch to my mother's house.

My mum is the best cook i know.

My sister and i have a bit of her talent but she is up to the top.

In a very short time she can make a full table of foods.

Olga and Alexandra helped their granny to set the table up.

My hubby and my dad talked about sports and cars

and Antonia played with her toys.

And i........ took these shots.

We ate red peppers, small dogfish, fresh yellow beans, egg-plants with cheese, wild herbs, cheese graviera (Cretan cheese) and boiled meat with stakopilafo (Cretan recipe).

At the end of our lunch, we couldn't get up from our seats.

We really enjoyed it.

MY WORLD TUESDAY: THREE FAVORITES

I have a confession to make to all my blog friends.
I thought of three things that they were important to me for this week's My World and i couldn't choose one of them.

So i decided to make a post for all of them.

I hope you like it and not be tired of it.
First, i want to share with you our day trip.
On Saturday, my family(all five) and my sister's family(all four)
went to Prokopi village, Evia.
The weather was fantastic for a trip.

Cloudy and not very cold.
The nature's colours were great and the smell from the wet ground was amazing.

We visited the Orthodox church of St.John the Russian.

He's very important saint and even today makes many miracles.

Many people even from other religions visit this church.
Then we had lunch to a Greek tavern.

We came back home at 8 pm.

The second thing i want to share is today's anniversary of Polytechnic school.

In 1973 the students of the universities all over the country decided to make a resistance against dictatorship and bring democracy back to Greece, after seven long years.

The dictators sent an army tank to pull down the iron gate of Polytechnic school.

All the students that they were on the gate, smashed and killed by the tank.

It was the beginning of the dictatorship's end.

The democracy came back to Greece but many young people died.

For the honour of those who died for the democracy, every year this day, the students of all schools have a selebration of their memory, like a memorial service.

And last, but not least, something that touch my feelings deeply.

Every year before Christmas, the society of people who paint with their mouth or feet (they have no hands), send to several people a new year's calendar, five Christmas cards and many mini cards for gifts.

It's up to anyone to send the money that all these cost.

It is the only income they have.

They have dignity and they don't begg for any help.

ABC WEDNESDAY: Q for QUILT

Last night it was a cold night, so my girls asked me to put their quilts on their beds.

The blankets aren't enough any more.

It's 18 degrees at day time and much lower at night.

We have also a quilt for the couch, because we want snugness when we watch TV.

MY WORLD TUESDAY: TRADITIONAL DISHES

This week i want to show you some traditional dishes from Greece.

We start with traditional fasolada (white beans soup).

For this plate we need:

white beans, olive oil, salt, black pepper, onions, carrots, tomato sauce, water and celery.

Next we have our traditional spanakopita (spinach pie).

For this plate we need:

some pastry, spinach, fresh onions, dry onions, dill, fennel, salt, black pepper, olive oil, eggs and feta cheese.

But sometimes the kids want to have other tastes.

So i make a home made pizza.

One recipe i usually use is this:

i make the dough, i put tomato sause, slices of ham, green pepper, sausages, mushrooms, slices of
cheese (gouda or edam), and grated cheese.

I hope you all enjoyed this post.
